I'm drawn to structural beauty and eastern culture. My family is a traditional Chinese family that instilled in me a love of porcelain, pottery, zisha, and other Chinese-crafted artworks such as hand fans at a young age. I intended to exhibit some eastern aesthetics with machinery in the form of an interactive artwork.The gesture sensor is used to control the movement of seven servos in the installation, which is programmed in Arduino.

Most traditional Chinese artworks are figurative, but abstract expressiveness attracts me. So, utilizing materials and colors, I attempted to make the hand fans depict a certain place or just a sensation in a pretty abstract manner. However, since the hand fan is a very figurative existence, I considered employing light to create the fan's shadow on the wall, making the visual experience more abstract but also more powerful. I found that UV resin is the most desirable material.
